Previously I was an advisor in the painting department at Rona in my region. I discovered Colorantic products thanks to Natacha Créative. I immediately fell in love because no other product being sold matched the quality of Colorantic. It was then that I insisted to the owner to bring this line of products into OUR store.

In order to introduce the products to our customers, I started doing small projects that I exhibited at the store. So, clients started demanding my services for their personal needs. Word of mouth made my services increasingly sought after.

Being more and more passionate about revaluation thanks to Colorantic, over the years I decided to make my passion my profession.

It was during the Covid-19 lockdown that my clients made some changes to their kitchen. It all started with changing the appliances and the floor. That’s when they realized that the bleached oak cabinets that were decades old no longer suited the new decor. So they called on my services to give the cabinets a facelift.

Products Used

Step 1: Preparation (not to be neglected)

I removed all the doors and brought them to my workshop.

I cleaned using Colorantic’s Cleaner and Varnish Remover. I sprayed the cleaner on all surfaces, left it on for 30 minutes. Once the time was up, I rinsed well twice to remove all the residue.

Using a wood scraper, I scraped the places inside or the varnish was sticky and/or flaking.

Then, I sanded with the electric sander to remove all the varnish. I did the same process for the boxes. I passed 120 paper by hand to remove the sander marks. With a damp cloth, I removed the sanding residue.

    Step 2: Colour

I used the paint (custom colour) diluted with the glaze (in order to extend the drying time) and water to lighten and give transparency to the painting. My goal was to make dye.

Mixture: 50% paint, 25% glaze and 25% water

I applied this mixture using a brush and wiped off the excess with a white cloth until I obtained the desired result.

    Step 3: Finishing

For lasting work, using the angled brush I applied three coats of matte varnish, lightly sanding with 400 paper between the coats.

My customers are very satisfied, they say they now have a dream kitchen.

It was several hours of work, honestly more than I expected, but the result was worth it!

The oak stands out so well now, compared to the old finish. Why change high quality cabinets when you can revamp them at low cost!
