On what surfaces can you use metallic paint?

Metallic paint looks wonderful on an accent wall, for example in an entrance hall or bathroom wall. We also recommend metal paint for ceilings, religious objects (statues), metal roofs, handles, drawer hook knobs, table and furniture tops, etc.

Steps to follow

1. Clean the surface

Before starting work, it’s important to prepare the surface thoroughly to ensure a smooth, impeccable finish. Taking the time to thoroughly clean the area before painting will help the metallic paint adhere better and hold up very well in the long term. So grab your rag and get ready for a flawless finish! All you need is a clean cloth and Colorantic varnish cleaner and remover.

Spray the Cleaner onto the surface and leave for 15 to 30 minutes to remove varnish or give your surface a matt finish. You can repeat these steps two or three times for best results. It’s very important to rinse well twice using hot water and a damp cloth to remove all residues, which will enable the paint to adhere very well.

In some cases, light sanding may be necessary. Make sure you dust thoroughly before moving on to the next step.

2. Application of primer

If your furniture has an oil finish, it will be necessary to apply a coat of oil primer. This will allow the transition from the current oil finish to water-based metallic paint.

3. Now you’re ready to apply the paint

Here are a few tips to help you apply the paint easily:

-Be sure to apply an even coat using one of Colorantic’s high-quality brushes or rollers.

-Remember that patience is the key to a beautiful result. Taking the time to apply the paint properly will result in an impeccable finish.

3. Allow to dry completely before adding another coat if necessary.

One of the most important things is to respect the drying time before applying a second coat.

By observing the appropriate drying time, you can be sure of a beautiful job that will stand the test of time.

Let your imagination run wild, but make sure your metallic paint has enough time to take effect. This step requires a little patience, as our metallic paint dries quickly!

The finish

The colors do not fade as they dry, and remain visually attractive. Our Colorantic metallic paints require no protective coating. Since it’s also water-based, brushes and other accessories can be easily cleaned.
