Transforming a melamine cabinet
Painting a melamine cabinet is really not complicated. You only need 3 products, which can be found in the Colorantic online store, to do this. Here’s how to do this transformation in just 3 easy steps.

Step 1 – Prepare the surface
Since melamine is a smooth surface, oil primer must be applied in order for the colour to hold well. To increase the adhesion of the primer to the melamine, it is best to clean the furniture well and lightly sand the surface. Then we put a coat of oil primer and voila!
Step 2 – Paint
Then we apply the chosen colour to our furniture, in this case, it is the colour Vintage Cream. For some colours one coat is sufficient. On the other hand, if you see that there are places where you can still see through the colour, apply a second coat when the first is dry. For large surfaces, such as this piece of furniture, you can use a roller to paint. It’s faster and gives a smoother finish.
Step 3 – The finish
Applying matte varnish is the last step in painting melamine furniture. It protects and seals the paint on the surface and, in addition, it allows us to run a damp cloth over the furniture to clean it. It is applied like paint with a brush or roller depending on the surface of the furniture or your preference.

Here it is! Your melamine furniture is now painted. All without to many complicated steps. If you want to add a little more effect to your furniture you can consult our blog article Can you paint melamine? It’s possible with Colorantic!
