Do you have a baby crib that at first glance could use a little, or even a lot of love?
Bénédicte has created a magnificent article about the complete transformation of an antique baby cradle. So, in just a few easy steps, you’ll have a beautiful piece of furniture for your newborn’s room made from our Colorantic products that are safe for your little ones.
The stages
Preparation
- First, thoroughly clean the furniture with Colorantic’s Varnish Cleaner and Remover. Spray on and leave for 30 minutes. Once the time has elapsed, be sure to rinse twice using a hot-water cloth.
- Sand very lightly to scratch to improve paint adhesion to furniture. Don’t forget to dust well before proceeding.
- Since the cradle has an oil finish, and for a long-lasting job, a coat of Colorantic oil primer was required. This allows the transition from the old oil finish to the new water-based paint.
Now you’re ready to move on to the next step.
The paint
- Apply a first coat of paint Cotton ball
- Leave to dry for 30 minutes
- Apply a second coat of paint
- Sand very lightly between coats and dust off.
The finish
Finally, for optimum protection, apply Colorantic’s matte varnish. Two coats of varnish were required to protect the cradle from the wear and tear of time.
Finally, the cradle is ready to welcome your newborn baby. A magnificent cradle that will be passed down in your family from generation to generation, again and again!
Feel free to experiment with other shades for the cradle’s transformation. The Colorantic color palette is bursting with rich, vivid colors.
Cosy room
Now it’s time to think about decorating. Read on for some tips and tricks:
The color of the room should be soothing and reassuring. The atmosphere created should be serene, peaceful and calm, and should encourage sleep.
Neutral tones such as beige, taupe, white or grey have the advantage of going with everything. They are conducive to calm and serenity, and ideal for babies. Opt, for example, for a cameo of beige, matched with a more colorful hue on one wall section.
In fact, there’s no such thing as an ideal color. Each color has a different visual aspect depending on the brightness of the room, its size and the choice of decorative objects…
