Paint kitchen cabinets with our chalk-based paint.

For the sake of change, or simply to modernize your kitchen, it can be tempting to paint your wooden cabinets. We all know that redoing the kitchen can be very expensive, so why not paint the cabinets?

Colorantic has the perfect, low-cost solution for your kitchen makeover. Why not repaint your kitchen cabinets, which are still in excellent condition?

Kitchen cabinet conversions are becoming increasingly popular. With Colorantic’s vast choice of colors, you’ll be spoilt for choice when it comes to refreshing your kitchen for less.

Read on for all the information you need to get started.

The stages

  1. First, clean cabinets thoroughly with Colorantic’s Varnish cleaner and remover. Spray on and leave for 30 minutes. Once the time has elapsed, rinse well twice using a hot-water cloth. This removes all residues.
  2. Lightly sand the surfaces to scratch them, allowing the paint to adhere very well. It’s important to dust well before proceeding.
  3. Then apply a coat of primer and leave to dry before applying the paint.

The Paint

  1. Add 16 oz of translucent window glaze per gallon of Ballerina Colorantic chalk paint. This mixture makes the paint smoother and protects it better, given that the cabinets will need to be washed very frequently.
  2. Next, apply a coat of Ballerina colour using the 35mm oval brush.
  3. Since Colorantic chalk paint dries very quickly, you can apply a second coat of paint after 30 minutes.
  4. Once the last coat has been applied, wait two hours before pursuing the project.

The finish

  1. For a greyer effect, add a few drops of Tractor Dust to the clear glaze, Translucent Window.
  2. Colorantic’s Snow White Paint Brush is perfect for this step.
  3. Wait 24 hours before applying the second coat of glaze. For this step, use only the clear glaze Translucent Window (without the addition of paint).

To conclude, sit back and admire the results!

When considering a kitchen renovation project, there are several options depending on how much time and money you’re willing to invest in the process. Paint is usually the least expensive option. Although painting kitchen cabinets can take time and patience, the result is spectacular, to say the least.

By choosing Colorantic products, not only are you supporting an Eastern Canadian company, but you’ll also have a kitchen that’s unique, full of character and, above all, a reflection of you. What’s more, you’ll save money by doing it yourself…and we love that!
