Mason Jars with DIY Vintage Look

DIY projects with Mason jars are multiplying on the web, and some catch our eye more than others. It’s hard not to fall in love with the look of aged Mason jars. They instantly bring a touch of  the vintage/shabby-chic wherever they are placed.

Isn’t it a great idea to create a lovely trio of vases, making them a perfect centerpiece for a rustic-style dining room? There’s nothing more beautiful than enhancing your decor, especially with a project you’ve made yourself!

Regardless of the season, painting glass Mason jars remains a decorative and fun idea to try with the various colours of Colorantic. As a bonus, this DIY is really simple to do. When it’s simple, inexpensive, and the result is beautiful and long-lasting, it’s worth trying!

Here are the items you will need:

• Colorantic Foam Brush
• Colorantic Chalk Paint: Colours of Your Choice
• Colorantic Natural Beeswax Wax
• Colorantic 16mm Wax Brush
• Colorantic Sanding Block with two grains
• Fine-grit sandpaper 80 or 100

Steps

Preparation

• Thoroughly clean the Mason jars and dry.

Painting

• Using the foam brush, paint your Mason jars by applying a thin layer of paint. Two coats should suffice. Wait 30 minutes between coats for a better effect.

Distressed Look – Aging

Using the Colorantic sanding block or fine-grit sandpaper 80 or 100, sand the desired areas to give them a rustic appearance.

Finishing

• Apply the natural beeswax using the 16mm wax brush.
• Wipe/sand off excess wax with a clean white cloth (like a T-shirt).
