One morning, while looking at Marketplace, I saw a pretty cabinet to give away that I fell in love with. I immediately thought it was fabulous opportunity offered to me. Why don’t we recycle a library?
Afterlook, I realized that it was a part of a computer cabinet that had been detached. But it doesn’t matter, I’ll repair everything and give it a new life!
As you read on, you will learn how we recycle a library.

Surface Preparation
- I started by taking everything apart what I could on the furniture. That is to say, the door, the handle, the hinges, the shelves and the back. Then I filled the holes with the pore filler, I left it dry for 24 hours and I did a little sanding after all.
- I sprayed the Polish Cleaner and Makeup Remover on all surfaces and left it on for 30 minutes. I took care to rinse well twice using a cloth with hot water to remove all the residue.
- I applied the oil primer all over the furniture and left it dry for 24 hours.
I had some leftover wallpaper that I really liked and I thought it would look nice against the back of the cabinet, so I applied it on the bottom panel. Then I painted the new legs with Metallic Gold Jewel.
Application of Colour and Aged Effect
- The next day, I applied the color Volcano all over the furniture. I used a roller to make it easier to apply and then with the brush 35mm, I wiped lightly from top to bottom to make it look nicer. Once the paint was completely dry, I applied a second coat.
- To apply the glaze I used a European style brush to create a wood effect. For this effect, I dipped only the tip of the brush in the glaze and applied it from top to bottom, pressing more or less hard. I made adjustments until I achieved the desired effect.
Furniture finishing
To get the details on the door, I applied two coats of Metallic jewelry with one brush from the artist paint brush pack. Once the paint is completely dry, I applied a layer of Natural wax bee to protect the surface.
All I had to do was rebuild my new cabinet and find a great place for it.
Refinishing furniture allows many options: a cabinet for the bathroom, a bookcase and why not a small bar or even a pretty dresser.
Let your imagination run wild according to your needs. We shouldn’t stop at the primary purpose, because with imagination, all pieces of furniture can change their function!
