How to Paint a Small Side Table

Do you have a little side table that no longer suits your decor but that you want to make into a unique piece?

Why not transform it with a metallic touch? Colorantic offers you a very nice range of metallic chalk paint which will allow you to very easily revamp any table. Here are the five shades available:

What you need to know about our metallic chalk paints: 

• They do not contain VOCs (volatile organic compounds). 
• They are ready to use and the colours do not alter as they dry. 
• No protective layer is required. 
• Being water-based, the brushes can be cleaned very easily.

Preparation

1. Since in this case it is a new side table and the wood was not varnished, the cleaning and priming steps were not necessary.

If you need to paint only one part of the table, be sure to protect the surfaces you do not want to paint with tape cache. 

➡Important steps to take if your furniture has been previously varnished or painted. You must prepare it adequately in order to optimize the longevity of your work. 

• Firstly, it is important to clean the furniture very well and to do this, we suggest using our Colorantic Varnish Cleaner and Remover. Spray yourself, leave to act for 30 minutes and using a cloth with hot water, rinse well twice, in order to remove all residue. 

• If the previous finish is oil, we strongly suggest applying a coat of oil primer. This will make the transition between the old oil finish and the new water-based paint. 

So once the preparation steps are complete, you are ready to move on to the next and undoubtedly the most fun step of the project, applying the paint. 

Painting

1.  your brush before using it. This will ensure that you do not leave brush marks on the paint once it is dry.

2. Apply one to two coats of metallic chalk paintWe suggest moistening of your choice, allowing for drying time between coats if necessary. 

3. When you are finished applying the paint, remove the tape.

Finishing

Although our metallic paint does not require protection, you can protect the furniture by applying varnish, glaze or wax.
