Our Inner Artist!

I observed them for a long time, wondering about this unique style and wondering what environment they would be able to fit into. Yes, because revaluing a piece of furniture without knowing who will buy it is rather annoying. In short, I imagined a very daring style using blue, gilding and frosted windows instead of clear windows. Yes I know ! It may seem strange, but it was pretty in my artistic mind!

My Journey as an Artist

In short, when I started the project, which was very simple, I fell in love with the effect of the oil-based primer applied with a brush on the dark wood color. So I said to myself, I’m going to create the “beach wood discolored” effect by water and sun. I immediately adopted this idea and changed my plans, because I had just discovered the personality of these two tables.

What I’m trying to say is that as an artist, you have to let your imagination run wild. We must listen to our “feelings”, not be afraid to make mistakes and start again. Most of the time I learn from my mistakes and discover something new like a new technique or unexpected inspiration, so you have to go for it and trust yourself. The paint can be wiped off, or you can let it dry, sand it and start again.

I have clients who have their heads full of ideas but who don’t dare to repaint a piece of furniture, for fear of making a mistake! So I want to help you achieve what you want by informing you adequately! I’m no more artistic than you. In addition, I only do what makes me happy, that is to say, giving free rein to my creativity by putting a lot of love into this very energizing pastime. I am convinced that you also have potential and that you can challenge yourself!

The Painting

So here is my special recipe for the result of these tables.

Unable to leave the effect of the primer on the wood, I applied a coat of the very beautiful deep gray, Acai Berry, using the #6 purple brush to create texture and finished by applying a coat of the beautiful natural white, Cotton Ball, also using the #6 purple brush. I played with my brush as if I were staining the wood to erase the paint in certain places, add it to others and give a very aged appearance to the whole.

I applied a single coat of each color, remembering to sand lightly between coats. To finish, I sanded using #200 paper, to soften the texture to the touch. I chose the varnish for the finish.

The Finishing Touch

Getting from my initial idea to the end of my project might be a professional secret, but between you and me, I can tell you…

Earlier I talked about trial and error and that’s what happened. I wanted to frost the glass with a product specifically designed for this, but which in my opinion is not ideal for tables, as the adhesion is not great. Unfortunately I didn’t like the result, so I tried to paint the glass white but as they say, I failed by using the wrong tool. I finished this job with plenty of water and a scraper to remove everything I had just applied. In short, as I said, everything fades away in order to start again. The glass is back to new condition. This is part of the risks but I learned how to use the products and materials.

Despite the pain I caused myself, I really like the end result which is both simple and versatile!
