How do I use chalk paint and stencils?

In fact, applying chalk paint using a Colorantic stencil can completely change the style of a decor.

It’s a very nice way to add charm to a rather simple element. We find a very wide variety of stencils on the market, so it is up to you, depending on the shade of paint you choose for your project, to make it a sober element that will blend in with your current decor or to make it a sensational element that will stand out.

For a long time I have been looking for a way to revamp my bedroom in an original way.

My first idea was to paint the dresser white and gray while keeping the natural wood top. As my project neared completion, I stood back to admire my new masterpiece! 

That’s when I wondered if I should add some patterns to the bottom drawers to give my dresser more punch.

After a little thought, I pulled out my assortment of stencils and thought hard about which one would work best to give the desired effect.  It was around 10 p.m. when I started my great project.

I had so much fun doing this work, and more than satisfied with the result, it was then that a crazy idea appeared to me.

Should I continue the patterns on the next wall? I wondered. (laugh).

The response was quick, I had to continue my masterpiece. 

It was then that the project began to take shape on the surface of the wall. The more I saw the geometric shapes, Cotton ball And Mist appear and the more I found that my crazy idea finally made a lot of sense. 

So I finished my project around 2 a.m., exhausted from my day and part of the night. Ultimately, I am so satisfied with my new decor, I absolutely do not regret having made this choice. I now have lots of other projects in mind. 

One thing I understood with this method… is that to create patterns, you have to put aside your perfectionism and accept that the shapes are uneven.

We can say that imperfection gives charm and atmosphere. In other words, it is by looking at the whole and not each pattern that we see beauty as a whole.

A simple chalk painting technique

I have a particular affection for stencils with geometric shapes, because being neutral, I find that they go well with different decors.

There are also floral stencils, animal themed stencils, hearts…and so on. You are spoiled for choice to satisfy your creative spirit! 

I love using Colorantic chalk paint with stencils since its texture is perfect. It helps prevent spills of excess paint.

UsuallyI use a sponge to apply the color to the stencil. It’s up to you, use the technique that suits you best. 

At Colorantic you will find different accessories for applying stencil paint. It is very important that the first coat of paint is completely dry before laying down the stencil and applying the second color.

You should also apply a thin layer of paint in the stencil to eliminate the risk of overflow.

A little tip to help you, you can use green painting tape to stick the stencil to the surface to prevent it from slipping.

It’s very easy to make! Trust yourself, you just need patience.

It’s not only large-scale projects that give a room an enchanting decor, but sometimes a color is enough to restore a lot of character.

I will eventually paint my living room furniture with cotton ball And Tractor dust in order to harmonize everything. I have another big project in mind that I can’t wait to get started with, that of painting my big couch.
