The Winter Wave Crafters Contest took place during the winter of 2021. When we registered, we were delighted to learn that the theme was \u201cIn the moon”. <\/i>The inspirations were: monochrome shades, the moon and the galaxy without forgetting the shine.<\/p>\n
With the very nice range of products we have at Colorantic, this contest was perfect for us. We were already convinced that we could make a one-of-a-kind creation.To carry out our project, we thought of inviting one of our collaborators, Laurie, La bordel de m\u00e8re<\/i>.<\/p>\n
We are really proud to present our project as well as the different stages through which this piece of furniture went through to arrive at this breathtaking result.It was a happy coincidence for Laurie to work with us on this project. It allowed her to learn more about Colorantic products and how easy it is to use them.<\/p>\n

This is the preparation necessary for the transformation of the furniture that we have chosen for the crafter\u2019s contest, IN THE MOON<\/i>, winter 2021.We applied Colorantic Cleaner and Varnish Remover, which we left to act for about thirty minutes for optimal cleaning. This allows you to remove all the dirt that could prevent the paint from adhering well.<\/p>\n
After the waiting time, it is very important to rinse all surfaces well with hot water using a damp cloth, in order to remove all residues. When the surfaces are no longer sticky, it’s time to move on to the next step.For the next step, we sanded lightly to scratch the surfaces. It is very important to dust well before continuing your work.<\/p>\n

We strongly recommend applying our oil-based primer if your furniture has an oil finish, as this will transition between the current oil finish and our water-based chalk-based paint.<\/p>\n
If you don’t know what finish your furniture has, you can do the following test;<\/p>\n
– Pour nail polish remover onto a makeup remover pad<\/p>\n
– If you rub the furniture and the colour rubs off onto the pad, it is a water-based finish, you can use either of our primers.<\/p>\n
– If you rub in and the colour does not transfer onto the pad, then it is an oil finish and you will need to use an oil-based primer.<\/p>\n

Our furniture did not have any oil-based products previously applied, so we were able to paint without applying a primer.We applied two coats of Night colour to the entire dresser.We applied Metallic Sparkle colour to the handles as well as to the decorative moulding at the top of the cabinet.<\/p>\n
To create a nice contrast, we used the colour Night and Metallic Sparkle, in order to bring out the magnificent details of this piece of furniture.We painted over the raised embellishments with Metallic Sparkle. Using a damp cloth, we removed the excess paint so that only some was left in the cavities.<\/p>\n

It is by using glitter and glaze that we created the galaxy. We applied the glaze only to the area where we wanted to apply the glitter.We dipped the dry brush #10 in the glitter and by shaking the bristles of it, our glitter would stick in a random way on our still wet glaze.<\/p>\n
In order to properly recreate the galaxy effect, we applied more glitter on two focal points and for the rest we applied it in small amounts.We removed the excess glitter and applied glaze to the entire piece of furniture as a top coat.<\/p>\n
