We recommend light sanding to remove the sheen. Some oil-based varnishes can compromise the adhesion of our water-based paint, so we recommend using our Colorantic furniture spray cleaner and light sanding afterwards. There’s nothing miraculous about it; you just need to put in a minimum of effort if you want to achieve the desired results. Oil-based paint and varnish are never compatible with any water-based paint.
