Recreate a Farmhouse Style with Colorantic Products.
Nostalgic through and through, my passion is bringing old and vintage-style furniture back to life, and Colorantic products allow me to create personalized transformations, making the job easy and enjoyable.
This paint applies and adheres so easily to surfaces that I can create styles for all tastes…Boho, farmhouse, rustic or even modern, the creation is perfect every time.
In all aspects of my transformations, from the purchase of furniture and decorative accessories to the choice of paint shades, everything is already imagined in my head.
Before starting work, I check everything that needs to be done: the number of handles to change, the holes to fill, the repairs, etc. Once this step is completed, I am ready to move on to the refurbishment.
On the Colorantic website, you can choose the shade that suits you for your project. If one of the pre-mixed shades isn’t to your liking, Colorantic offers bases that you can have tinted with one of your favorite paint manufacturer’s colour codes.
*** A quick visit to the liquidation paint section can also be very interesting.

Preparation
1. I completely cleaned the furniture using the polish cleaner and make-up remover to remove any traces of grease that may have been in corners or on surfaces over time. I sprayed the cleaner on all surfaces and let it act for 30 minutes. Once the time had elapsed, using a cloth with hot water, I rinsed well twice, in order to remove all the residue.
2. I removed the handles and hinges. With the electric sandblaster and a 100 grit sandpaper, I sanded the entire piece of furniture to help the chalk paint adhere. Colorantic paint requires light sanding because it adheres very well, so I used my sanding block anywhere my sandblaster couldn’t get.
➡I could have avoided the arduous step of mechanical sanding by applying a coat of Colorantic oil primer. Light sanding, just to scratch, would have then been sufficient.
Now that the preparation stage is complete, simply use a vacuum cleaner or an air compressor to remove all the dust.
Transformation
The colour Cotton Ball was used for the background of the buffet to brighten up. I used the Snow White brush for this step.
With the European style brush and Cappuccino colour paint, I covered the rest of the furniture. This shade is not too dark, so it goes perfectly with white. Two coats were enough to cover the furniture very well. The handles were too dark for my taste, so I changed their look by using white paint.
Using the oval synthetic brushes, it was easy to cover the solid wrought iron inside the upper doors. This type of brush is perfect for corners and painting small details.
And once the paint was completely dry, I sanded it with 400-grit paper to make the brushstrokes disappear. This step makes the paint very soft and makes it easier to apply the wax.
Farmhouse Style
Since this is an “aged farmhouse” look that I chose for this piece of furniture, wax was the ideal finish in this case.
The antique style handles and the new hinges completed my piece of furniture.
So my up-to-date “farmhouse” style dresser. In addition to giving a beautiful character to my dining room, it offers me plenty of storage space.
That said, as you can see, I love decorating my creations with objects that highlight them.
