How to Freshen Up Your Home for Spring and Summer

The steps to follow…

As mentioned earlier, our chalk-based paint requires very little preparation. However, it is essential to prepare your furniture and/or any other object very well before starting your work.

Step 1. Prepare the surface:

To remove chipped paint and/or rust, simply use our two (2) grit sanding block or a wire brush. It may be necessary to use an electric sandblaster as well.

Step 2. Cleaning:

It is essential to do a very good cleaning before you start painting. Spray the Colorantic cleaner & varnish remover, let it sit for 30 minutes. It is very important to rinse well with hot water two (2) times to remove all residue and allow the paint to adhere well. We suggest that you scratch the surfaces by sanding very lightly, which will allow the primer or paint to adhere very well.

Step 3. Applying primer (if needed):

If necessary, now is the time to apply the primer.

Step 4. Applying the paint:

Once the primer is completely dry, you are now at the most pleasant stage of upgrading, that of applying the paint. To do this, we suggest our velvet finish foam brushes and/or rollers. If necessary, you can soon apply a second coat of paint since it dries quickly. If you want a softer finish, you can sand very lightly between coats.

Step 5. Sand for an aged look:

Once the paint is finished, you can sand in different places to give an aged look. I suggest you choose strategic places where wear and tear would naturally occur. Our two (2) grain sanding block is the ideal accessory for this operation.

Step 6. Finishing:

Once you are done painting, we suggest that you protect your paint so that your work is very durable. Three choices of finish are available to you: wax, matte varnish (+/- 10% shine) or clear glaze, translucent window (+/- 35% shine)

Variety of effects:

You can achieve a wide variety of effects using Colorantic chalk-based paint. Its matte and powdery finish will give a very nice look to your upgrades. Depending on the technique used, you can give an aged or not style to your furniture and various objects! It’s all in the way of painting.
