Colorantic is participating in the Contest Wave – Summer 2022 under the theme: The Tropics. For the occasion, we decided to inspire you with a fun and very simple project to do… We painted decorative oars with our Colorantic chalk paint. You too can create a design that will fit well in your decor. As a final protection we have used our matte varnish which will protect any of your projects. For the occasion, we have even prepared a short video montage that we invite you to watch on our Youtube channel.

Steps to Follow:

Step 1:

First, it’s always best to clean your furniture to make sure that varnish, grease, dirt and other residue are gone. We applied and left our Colorantic varnish remover cleanser for about 30 minutes. Then we wiped the surface with a white cotton cloth making sure there was no residue or old varnish left. You can repeat this step if necessary.

Step 2:

Take Colorantic adhesive green tape to create the lines on the oar in order to paint in a straight lines in a symmetrical fashion. Create your own design or patterns on the oar. Let your imagination run wild!

Step 3:

In the third step, you can paint the oar with the colours of your choice. In this case, due to the tropical themed Contest Wave, we opted for our colours Grapefruit, Ocean, Caribbean Sea and Lemon Pie. These are colours that have punch and a lot of vitality to showcase the theme of the tropics.

Step 4:

Make sure the surface is dry. Colorantic chalk paint dries quickly. Make sure it is completely dry before continuing.

Step 5:

Repeat the process with the green tape and make other patterns, lines, dots or other shapes. Design according to your tastes and follow your inspiration of the moment.

Step 6:

Apply Colorantic matte varnish only at the very end when everything is completely dry. Make sure everything is dry before you start varnishing so that it doesn’t mix with the colours. Let it dry and know that our matte varnish dries quickly. Start again if necessary.
